I’m in Vietnam right now and its really cool. At first there was a bit of culture shock I have to admit. The roads are literally packed with motorbikes, but there arent really any stop signs or stoplights, so to cross the street you just start walking into oncoming traffic and they move around you…its like a fucking huge accomplishment every time you make it to the other side alive. Im getting used to it though. Im making some pretty awesome friends so thats a big relief. Today, I got to crawl through the tunnels that the Viet Cong made deep underground during the Vietnam War. It was insane because they were so tiny I had to crawl on my hands and knees. It was super claustrophobic. Then we went to the Vietnam War Museum so that I could be reminded how low America can go. Seriously though, it was intense and my white guilt is at an all-time high. Its a pretty incredible experience to see things from teh perspective of the other side. Despite feeling so unproud of the US, Im doing some really cool stuff and having a lot of fun. I’m really excited for the rest of the trip. Also, I miss my friends from Tulane so so much!
